Greetings and a Question!
« on: May 18, 2015, 07:54:22 AM »
Hello All! This is my first post and I wanted to say hello and I appreciate the information being shared on this forum!

I have been searching for a vertical mill for some time now. Some swear by a Bridgeport style mill as the only option, while others have put mills like the G0704 to good use. I realize a lot has to do with what you wish to accomplish, so here is what I need a mill to do in the short term:

Machine 80% 1911 frames and slides
Machining AR receivers
General handgun work

Long term? I am not totally sure, but I am not ruling anything out.

How many of you are using bench top style machine with success? Who has had bad experience with them and moved on?

Thank you!!

Andy

I have no experience with bench top.  But I do have experience with old manual mills.  Even mills from the 70s and 80s can still hold a good number.

The only advantage for bench top is that the mill will require rigging.  ($300-$800)
