I just received 1 of 4 castings from them today that I ordered 3 weeks ago, I called them and asked if I was going to get the rest soon and was told 3 to 6 weeks, I asked about shipping charges and I was also told it is not there policy to charge S&H for each shipment(about $12 per).

Looks like an Anchor-Harvey forging from the [large] pic. Good start! One of our esteemed members here, Heli, can wire-EDM the magwell for you, after you machine the upper deck & drill the front takedown pin hole (or for a few $$$, he can do that as well).

Hi all, newbie here looking at starting my first project.
IOWOLF,
I was looking at ordering from Vida Rica myself. Which receiver did you get, the JFM or the HPS?
Thanks for the info.

Where to get them? Right here: yellowlogic.net New photos coming and ready to ship by Friday 3/6 There's a little more done than in the photo... the bolt hold open slot is done and the bottom of the trigger guard is slotted. Mag well is EDM'd and beveled nicely. Hard to believe that it comes from a solid, 4.3lbs block of 7075 T6. Currently using the cncguns drill jig to complete one. Will post photos this weekend when my project continues. This is the first, maybe only batch. $225 each until 3/20. UPS shipping $7.95 Credit cards ok.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes Kevin to ship his 80%'ers once he gets the money? I sent him the money on the 9th of May, and haven't gotten any e-mail response to say he has it, is behind, ect.

Excuse my ignorance...VERY new at this and still fact finding...
In looking for an AR15 80% Lower Castings I am seeing a HUGE difference in prices. Going from $225.00 to $24.00 (in what appears to be of similar materials) . And that is just in this thread!
What makes a casting cost $200.00 more than another casting? And where would you start if this was your first time out working with a casting??

try the sticky a few down from this one http://www.cncguns.com/forum/index.php?topic=822.0also, as far as unfinished lowers go, casting<>forging<>billet you want forging or billet if at all possible billet will cost more

So...
Billet > Forging > Casting correct?
A bit less confused but the sites selling these don't make it very easy for the novice.
I looked at the DSAinc site for the "AR15 Lower Receiver 7075-T6 Alloy Forging, Military Spec - 1001" for $27.95 and thought it was basically the same as the JFM one for $137.50 from AR15plus.com. I thought they were all 80%
For my first time out I don't want to be "building a model" by simply putting together parts like I would buy in the toy department of Wal Mart. I guess I would want to wade into the shallow end with an 80%.
Also seems to be a lot of different jigs out there. How similar are they?
Funny...I was reading the post you linked to while you were replying.
