Machining 2011 Dustcover
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:46:38 PM »
Anyone have any ideas on how to machine down in the 2011 dust cover without doing it 2 piece like Justin did? I have a really long endmill, but I pretty much can't use it for anything without insane amounts of chatter. I thought about roughing it out horizontally from the top side, but I can't figure out how to finish it, or how to machine the face on the inside nearest the feed ramp.

Stub end mill chucked way out with a turned down shank?
Long solid shank cutter with carbide insert?
