ordering a barrel
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:27:44 AM »
Im getting ready to order a barrel from lothar walther.  The 50 bmg barrels they have are finished chambered deep,  they need to know the dimension from the datum of the chamber to the face of the go gauge so they can machine the face of the barrel and make the chamber the rite depth.  Where is the datum at on the chamber and how do I get that dimension?  I understand what they want but cant figure out how to get there. Can anybody explain how to get that dimension.

OP, have you ever built a firearm from scratch?
If not, I'm not sure .50 BMG is the best caliber to start with/learn on...
