CNCGuns' 416 Clone 11% lower GROUP BUY
« on: August 04, 2010, 09:55:46 AM »
UPDATE - 8/4/2010

A few months ago I tried to start up a group buy for these 11% HK416 clone lowers, but there simply wasn't enough interest to meet the 20 minimum order.  Now that I'm married I have a little breathing room so I have more time to put towards this project.  So what I'm going to do this time is just go ahead and produce 20 lowers on my own and HOPE they sell once they are finished.  If you are interested in one of these 20 lowers, please contact me ASAP to reserve your spot in line.  You can email me at justin@cncguns.com

I'm planning on starting production of these lowers in about 2 weeks (once the material arrives) and I should have them finished in about 6 weeks or so from the start date.  I will be sending these off to be broached so that might add another couple weeks depending on their work load.  Below I've attached a pic to show how much machining will be done.  The price shipped to your door will be $380  You do not need an FFL to buy one of these because they are considered a non-firearm.

You can finish the 11% lower with my drilling jig and milling adapter kit.  All of the "hard machining" will be complete.  The lowers will be machined from 6061-T651 billet aluminum.  This is the same grade of material we use every day in the aerospace industry.  I've looked into machining the lowers from 7075, but the material cost is so much more expensive.  If guys are making functional lowers from plastic, then you don't have to worry about the little bit of difference between 6061 and 7075.  The lower receiver of an AR is a low stress part.  No engraving will be included with these lowers.  I can supply you the engraving data if you choose to have it done on your own.  I chose not to include the engraving because I didn't want to infringe on HK's trademarks on something I'm selling.  Email me if you are interested in sending payment and getting your name on the list.  If you have any questions, post your question here and I will respond.

Thanks, Justin

I hope to start making chips either today or early next week. I thought I'd share a "beginning" pic with you guys. The lower receiver on top of the stack of material is a HK416 clone I had left over from my original prototypes.

I still have a few spots open on the list in case anybody else is interested one of the 11%'ers.

Please email me at justin@cncguns.com  so I can add your name and email to the list.

Just so everybody knows, this is a limited run and the only way to insure your name on the list is to send in payment ASAP.

Thanks,

The buffer threads are finished.  This week I'll be roughing the mag well area to the spec the broach guy calls for.

It won't be long before these are finished :)

I have some good news.... I have finished the machining of the 11%'ers.  :690: I'll be shipping them to the broach guy next week.  Hopefully it won't take him more than a week or two.  When I get them back I'll remove any burrs and clean them up and then they will be ready to ship.

I've attached some new pics.  I'll also take some pics once I get them back from being broached.

Go to the top of the page and read the first post.  Yes I still have a few available, but they are going fast..... especially now that they are getting close to being shipped to the customers.

Below are the final pics.  I ended up engraving the selector markings for you guys so that should save you some time.  Now all you have to worry about is the laser engraving after you get the lower anodized.  I will supply the laser engraving file when I ship your package.  The lowers have a tumbled finish so there are no burrs.  I bead blasted one of the lowers to show you what it looks like after it's been tumbled and bead blasted.

Contact me right away if you are interested.  These won't last long.  justin@cncguns.com

Thanks,
Justin
