6061 vs 7075
« on: May 31, 2016, 09:32:44 PM »
I am new at building any rifle and a AR45 shall it be. I read quite a lot about it, but as we all know, truth and myth are sometimes hard to distinguish on the internet. Hence I am asking the experts here.

Is using 7075 for a receiver overkill?
Is long term durability for a 6061 receiver the same as a 7075?
Does design trump material?
Or in other words how compares long term reliability of a CNC AR45 (6061) receiver vs a Bazooka receiver vs a QC10 receiver (both 7075)?

Lots appreciated
T

I guess this is all theoretical, I know...;-)

still, theoretically, what is preferred: a 6061 billet or a 7075 forged?
