Rusty greasegun mags
« on: February 19, 2015, 04:34:57 PM »
Forum members, HELP. My .45 greasegun mags have started to rust on the bodies. I have one that is grey park but the rest are blued. What can I do to stop the rust other than oil. Would parkerizing them keep them from rusting any more? Living in eastern NC is hard on blue steel, that's why I prefer stainless guns and magazines. On a side note, I have made a few of the aluminum base pads for 3 mags that I have cut down and want to make more for the rest of my mags.

Parkerizing doesn't prevent rust, it just provides a surface that holds oil, so you oil less often.  Abrasive blast, then park and oil, or ceracoat/duracoat.
